Dr. Knorr has more than 22 years’ experience as a teacher and an administrator. Her M.S. and Ph.D. are both in adult education with an outside area of emphasis in family life education. She was a graduate faculty member in the Communication Department at Ft. Hays State University, where she taught both undergraduate and graduate courses. Prior to earning her graduate degrees, Dr. Knorr taught at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels, and then at the undergraduate level at Kansas State University. While an administrator, Dr. Knorr developed, coordinated, and managed continuing education degree and outreach programs for adults and youth. She wrote a bimonthly research newsletter for three years at Kansas State University and has both university and corporate grant experience.

As a Navy wife and mother of two, Dr. Knorr traveled extensively and worked within the community to promote parental involvement in early childhood education. Dr. Knorr conducted parent-child communication workshops. She served on the Navy’s Childcare Taskforce in Norfolk, VA, as well as the Virginia Beach Family Life Steering Committee. The focus of her policy work included issues related to childcare, pre-school education, after-school programs, parent/child communication workshops, and quality-of-life issues related to poverty, single parenting, military life, culture, ethnicity, and transience.
