A parent’s involvement in their child’s life has a lasting impact on their health and success as adults.

That is why KPIRC places a strong emphasis on parent involvement in early childhood. The home is where support for learning begins and where it must continue throughout a child’s education. KPIRC wants to help parents become an integral part of their children’s educational success from the beginning.

Our Early Childhood Strategies are to:

  • Increase communities’ capacity to support the Parents As Teachers (PAT) model and curriculum.
  • Pilot 3-5 Parents As Teachers model and curriculum in targeted counties.
  • Help Parents As Teachers programs implement the National Quality Standards Self-Assessment process.
  • Develop an evaluation plan to monitor the achievement of PAT children to school entry.
  • Help Parents As Teachers programs develop plans to incorporate the National Quality Standards in their program.
  • Determine staff development needs of targeted preschool programs and provide staff development and technical assistance to address those needs.
