A RAND Corporation study released today confirms what David Kirp, professor of public policy at the Univ. of California, Berkeley already knows. Children who attend preschool do better than those who don’t, when they enter school, and the study notes, the effect is long lasting. Eighth grade reading and math scores were significantly higher for children who went to an effective preschool.

"Toddling, Tantrums, and Tall Tales!!" was created by Malcolm L. Smith, Ph.D. for a program that focuses on Realistic Expectations for Kansas Parents of children ages two to four. This brochure is to be used for educational purposes only. Washington Learning Systems offers Free parent-child activities in the PRESCHOOL age range and Free parent-child activities in the BIRTH-TO-THREE age range.

These materials complement the Language is the Key video programs. After presenting the Language is the Key video programs, trainers can use the parent-child activities as take-home handouts for parents and staff. The parent-child activity handouts will support trainees to as they practice and expand on the early literacy strategies taught in the Language is the Key video programs.
