From the National PTA: The Parents’ Guide to Student Success (linked from the site in English and Spanish) was developed in response to the Common Core State Standards in English language arts and mathematics that more than 40 states, including Kansas, have adopted. Created by teachers, parents, education experts, and others from across the country, the standards provide clear, consistent expectations for what students should be learning at each grade in order to be prepared for college and career.

Parent Teacher Education Connection: Online Parent Modules!

The goal of PTE Connection is to help teachers and early childhood professionals work more effectively with parents and families across cultures to improve student achievement. Our curriculum has been revised to align with the PTA National Family School Partnership Standards, which were endorsed by the Kansas State Board of Education. Each standard has been developed into an online module that can be used for professional development.

Kansas Family and Community Involvement Guide to Student Achievement

This booklet, complete with the National Family School Partnership Standards (PTA) and scoring guide, or rubric is intended to be used for measuring continuous improvement in family and community involvement in student achievement. The guide includes standards and performance descriptors that identify how schools can assess their family and community involvement procedures, policies and other efforts toward improving student achievement.

PAT Update: Kansas PTA and Parents as Teachers

The Kansas Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and the Kansas Parents as Teachers Association (KPATA) are beginning a joint venture to promote their mutual interest in families with children prenatal to 5 years of age. PTA offers a foundation for affirming young children as they grow and develop. PTA provides support, resources, programs and activities to assist families of young children. The programs and activities of an early childhood are determined by the interests and needs of each group. This information brief provides in-depth information on this partnership.
